Expedition 33 Sweeps at the 2025's Golden Joystick Awards
The 43rd yearly Golden Joystick Awards unfolded on Thursday, and in a stunning show, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 emerged as the most decorated winner. This surprise role-playing game by Sandfall Interactive won the prestigious Game of the Year award, along with honors for Best Storytelling and Excellence in Visuals.
Complementing the developer's triumph, its gifted performers also received personal awards. Jennifer English was named Top Lead Actor for her portrayal as Maelle, while Ben Starr earned Best Supporting Actor for his role as Verso. Additionally, Sandfall Interactive the studio received Studio of the Year. In total, Clair Obscur and its makers achieved seven awards during the event.
Other standout winners included Ghost of Yōtei, which received Top Sound Design and Best Console Game, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, winning Top Self-Published Indie and Best PC Game. Worth mentioning, the bulk of Golden Joystick Awards are chosen by the gamers, with only 4 categories—Critics' Pick, Breakthrough Award, Hall of Fame, and Streamers' Favorite—determined by reviewers.
