Eulogies Pour In for Rob and Michele Reiner as Autopsy Reports Remain Under Wraps.
More than two weeks following the shocking loss of celebrated film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones are still paying respects to the couple.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he just recently felt ready to express about his profound loss.
"Enough time has passed that I can at last express my sorrow into words," wrote Elwes, adding that his initial encounter with Reiner made him fall in love. "Once we started passing more hours together I realized this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor shared behind-the-scenes footage from the production, commenting that he could not remember "one day without joy".
"This story is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Principles that Rob cherished deeply. That is part of the many reasons he was the ideal person to guide it," Elwes continued.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, saying: "Asserting that they were a incredible duo would be an oversimplification. My heart still pangs every time I remember you." He concluded with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Colleague and Comrade
In a different piece, revered director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved being with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the protagonist.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked wonderfully with the cast, and he comprehended the human predicament of his character," Scorsese added.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Restricted
In a new development, a Los Angeles judge decided to bar the release of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, following a petition from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A court order placed a security hold on the files to limit the public release of "any investigative information, documents, files or images" connected to the probe.
The Medical Examiner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the result of murder, with a record citing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
