Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Player the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in contact with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of the player by name in their announcement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

The woman, who likewise did not name Rice by name, shared a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She stated the person involved was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the second round.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

The receiver was absent for the initial part of this season due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals injured. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

On the field, he finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
