Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Fatal Car Crash

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities stated on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash near Lagos on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that claimed the lives of two of his valued colleagues.

Healing from Light Wounds

Joshua had been under observation while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was declared medically stable to “recuperate at home”.

“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.

A Tribute to the Fallen

The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the champion was filled with sorrow and overcome with emotion over the tragic loss of his two trusted companions.”

His release from the hospital comes as the sports world had expressed condolences for the star in the aftermath of the devastating accident.
